General Features and Production Capabilities
Five-axis production for complex furniture components
Turning, indexed machining, angular milling, drilling and shaping can be combined for chair, table, sofa and armchair legs, balusters, columns and decorative solid-wood parts.
Ø400 × 1,200 mm working capacity
The working envelope supports long parts with large sections while keeping the blank between controlled drive and tailstock references.
±90° A-axis for angled machining
The fifth axis tilts through ±90° so the high-speed spindle can reach angled faces, transitions and multi-surface details with fewer setups.

Rigid chassis and precision servo motion
A reinforced, vibration-resistant chassis works with Panasonic servo motors, precision guides, carriages, racks and ball-screw components for repeatable profiles.
Direct-drive rotation and fast length setup
The 5 kW workpiece axis reaches 3,000 rpm. Pneumatic clamping operates at 7 bar, and length is adjusted from the control panel without a wrench or screw setting.
Automatic preparation for repeatable machining
ILC central lubrication protects the motion system, while automatic tool measurement records the active tool reference before machining.
TPA industrial control workflow
The Windows-based TPA platform combines axis control, EtherCAT communication, job sequencing, production reports, 3D preview and remote service connection.
Pegasus 5-Axis digital production path
Parts can be prepared, reviewed and simulated in 3D before the five-axis machining program is generated, creating a documented path from design to production.

Standard Main Equipment
TPA industrial CNC control
Windows-based control with EtherCAT, production reporting, 3D preview and remote connection.
Pegasus 5-Axis CAD/CAM workflow
Parts can be designed, reviewed and simulated in 3D before the five-axis production program is generated.
Three standard cutting units
Hardened triangular, cup and top blades cover detailed profiling, rough stock removal and longitudinal shaping.
Hertz high-speed spindle
The 5.5–6 kW spindle reaches 24,000 rpm and uses ceramic bearings, 380 V supply, air cooling and automatic tool change.

- 24,000 rpm
- 380 V
Five-position tool magazine
Five holders keep the required machining tools ready for automatic changes within the program.
Part discharge conveyor
The conveyor supports controlled transfer of completed parts away from the work area.
Off-center tailstock fixture
Supports workpieces whose reference or machining geometry requires an offset tailstock position.
Electronic handwheel
Provides local, incremental axis movement during setup, reference checks and service operations.
ILC central automatic lubrication
Oil is distributed automatically to support the precision motion components during production.
Automatic tool measurement
The active tool reference is measured before machining to support consistent setup and tool changes.
Perimeter safety fence
The standard fence defines the protected machine area and supports planned operator access around the cell.

Frequently asked questions
Which parts can the 5-Axis Ultra CNC Wood Lathe produce?
It is designed for chair, table, sofa and armchair legs, balusters, columns and decorative solid-wood parts that require turning, indexed positioning, angled milling, drilling or detailed profiling within Ø400 × 1,200 mm. Final suitability is evaluated from the drawing, raw stock and required operations.
What does the ±90° A axis add to production?
The fifth axis tilts the machining spindle through ±90°, allowing angled faces, transitions and multi-surface details to be reached with fewer setups. The actual tool path and access are verified in CAD/CAM according to the part geometry and workholding plan.
What are the workpiece capacity and axis speeds?
The standard working envelope is up to 400 mm diameter and 1,200 mm length. Z travel is 1,200 mm at 70 m/min, X travel is 225 mm at 30 m/min and Y rapid speed is 20 m/min. The direct-drive workpiece axis reaches 3,000 rpm; the appropriate cutting conditions depend on the wood, stock balance and tooling.
How does the five-tool system support different operations?
The standard arrangement combines hardened triangular, cup and top blades with a 5.5–6 kW, 24,000 rpm spindle and five prepared tool positions. It supports roughing, detailed turning, longitudinal shaping, milling and drilling with automatic changes between programmed steps.
Which configuration options are available?
Options include the 9.5–11 kW Hiteco ISO30 spindle, oscillating and detail sanding units, circular saw, aluminium top blade, automatic loading, aluminium work table, chuck holder, Pegasus 5-Axis Plus CAD/CAM and a full safety cabinet. Selection follows the part geometry, operations, surface target and production rhythm.
What are the machine dimensions, power and weight?
The machine measures 3,950 × 3,720 × 3,900 mm (155.51 × 146.46 × 153.54 in), has 33 kW total installed power and weighs 4,600 kg (10,141 lb). The installation plan should also allow for the standard perimeter fence, service access, extraction and material handling.
Which part data should be shared for a production evaluation?
Share the part drawing or 3D model, wood species, raw-stock dimensions, finished geometry, angled faces, required turning, milling, drilling, sawing or sanding operations, target daily quantity and surface-quality expectation. A physical sample is useful when geometry, workholding or wood behaviour requires validation.
